1 Day kiting FAQs
What is a kiting course in paragliding?
A kiting course in paragliding is a ground-based training where you control a paraglider wing while staying on the ground, building the skills needed to control the glider in order to launch, fly and land safely. It is one of thekey aspects towards becoming a safe independent pilot.
Do I need my own equipment?
NO. New pilots get full equipment and instructions included. If you are a solo independent pilot with your own equipment it is always best to kite on your equipment since you learn your own glider's behavior.
Who should take this course?
Anyone curious about paragliding, and also licensed solo pilots who want to refine launch control and fly more confidently.
What is the difference between the beginner and solo pilot packages?
The beginner package includes all equipment — wing, harness, and helmet — along with full instruction from scratch. It is priced per group because sharing the session makes it more accessible. The solo pilot package is designed for licensed pilots who bring their own gear and want focused coaching on their specific launch habits. Flying your own equipment is deliberate — you learn how your glider behaves, not a school wing.
Do I need any experience to join the beginner kiting course?
None at all. The beginner package starts from zero — no prior flying, no theory, no equipment needed. You will learn how a paraglider wing behaves on the ground, how to inflate and control it, and the basic body position and brake inputs that form the foundation of every safe launch.
Where does the kiting course take place?
Sessions are held at our kiting sites near Alibaug, Maharashtra — a short drive from the Mumbai ferry. The exact site is chosen on the day based on wind conditions, since kiting requires consistent, clean airflow to be productive.
Will I actually fly during the kiting course?
No — and that is the point. Kiting is ground-based training only. The wing stays below head height throughout. The goal is building the muscle memory and instinct to control the glider confidently before any flight happens. Pilots who skip this foundation are the ones who struggle at launch for years. If you want to progress to actual flights, the natural next step is our P1 Introductory Course.
